New Year, new frontiers!

Can you believe it? January has come and gone, and its just been non-stop.
Finally, we got the keys, and on a snowy day, we moved into our new house.
One of the first pieces of mail to come through is the bibs for the first event of the year - Wokingham Half. My 3rd it will be, and only 2 weeks away!

Training has been sporadic, with a long run every week except for the snowy week which we were meant to move except our movers have been snowed in.
A very daring deed I did on the day before we were meant to move..a lil snowy farewell bicycle ride along the Thames in the fresh snow, so beautiful.

It is hard saying goodbye to the proximity of the Thames path, and we are slowly doing it whilst vacating the flat. A quick run, and shower, pack a few things, and back to the house. Things one take for granted to have the world at your doorstep, on foot. Hardly the same in real suburbia!

The first weekend long run from the new house was more an expedition than a serious training run. A sunny Saturday morning, got us out the door, with a lap to our nearest park, and then along winding 'country roads' of Surrey to where Chobham common starts. Lots of cyclists about, and no kerbside for runners , it wasn't the safest around. The car park of the Common from what we could see, was still an ice rink from last week's snow.

However , it was refreshing to be running in the countryside, or 'the bush' , on a cool Australia Day.

A bit of encouragement got me to the gym 2 times this week to maximise my attendances for my month's worth of membership. A pat on the back for completing 2 * 5kms on the treadmill with some stopping. Fatigued. I need to get outdoors as the treadmill limits me, and so does watching the clock.

Steeplechaser-in-training?!?!

Happy New Year!
Life after Christmas have been miserable. Rain, rain and more rain. On Boxing Day I
It was declared that we were living in flood warning zone. Though the chance of property damage was to be minimal, it is sad doing early morning checks to see my favourite training path diminishing.

On Saturday morning I decided to do my normal route...new lakes in this patch which was the 'parking lot' for rowers before the regatta in the summer..

Parts of the Thames path were cut off, so we went into the side streets and continued on. But really, I had no intention to train for rio 2016 as a steeplechaser for any team in the world that would take me...

Glad that the first day of 2013 turned out nice and bright. Even though I hit the sack at 3 am I still motivated myself to drive to Richmond park for the New Years Parkrun...but I misread the notice. The closest one bushy park was on but in 15 mins time and being unfamiliar driving territory. I decided to stay put and did a Freedom Parkrun at Richmond park instead.

Lots easier than last week, but being the first and last in this time trial & the fatigue added up, and I finished a minute faster than Christmas!

Not good enough! But nice to be out there on a clear blue sky winter.

Hmm..I will be back, Richmond park, very soon!
